Good: staff were friendly
Bad: blood on the counter on arrival, beggars and homeless harassing us as we arrived at the door. bed was covered in a plastic sheet and mattress stained with yellow stains, only 1 pillow each, mouldy fishy smell in the room, dirty carpets throughout the hallway, mouldy bathroom, dipped mattress on one side. breakfast was covered in flies, blood found in another one of our rooms. we were booked for 5 nights and checked out after 1 night we just could t stay in this hotel. we travel a lot and have never checked out after a day. all 9 of the group wanted to leave.

9Lovely hotel with brilliant staff
Good: The hotel is in the old Centre Lapa district and you get the proper feel of the real Rio. The hotel was very good value for money, the beds comfy and the breakfast was nice as well with good options. What really stood out were the staff though, they were lovely, helpful and cheerful and took very good care of their guests. If you're looking for a hotel that's nice but at a budget price, would definitely recommend.
Bad: The hotel was initially very busy so we had a first night on a ground floor room, which was a bit dark but we asked whether we could be changed and got a great room on top floor instead with a lot of light and a nice view - no fuss at all from staff when we asked to change and we only got the initial room due to the hotel being fully booked the night of our arrival.

Good: The price matches the vibe of the hotel. It was cheaper than other hotels, but then again it matched the area around it. The only good thing I can say about it was the price and the helpfulness of the staff
Bad: the window faced an area where I didn't feel comfortable opening the window. The bed was okay, but the pillows were bad and we only had two pillows total so no way to double up and at least feel comfortable with resting our heads. The breakfast was okay, nothing to rave about, but if you need a snack to get going then it's okay.
